        Calvary Ministries
        Audio Visual Team
        Description

        Express your love for worship through your knowledge of computers and your ear for music! Volunteer for service in audio/visual and special effects. This ministry requires in-depth training for someone who is a quick thinker and has an ear for what sounds good. Attention to detail is important.

        Responsibilites

        Work a 48-channel sound board to produce quality sound for worship, speaking, and special presentations. Visual team members (a separate position) work the slide presentation and lighting. (Other less demanding opportunities can be explored under Kids Ministry/Flight 56 or the Student Ministry/Tech Crew).

        Time Commitment

        Arrive 20 minutes prior to service. Usually once a month. Varies.

        Launch Kids: Aviators
        Description

        Use your love for kids and your gift of encouragement or mercy to walk along children in their spiritual growth journey. You can follow along with the Aviators curriculum as you and the kids grow together in the knowledge of Christ and the Scriptures. Age groups include 3-5 year-olds (Lieutenants); K-grade 2 (Captains); and grades 3 and 4 (Majors).

        Responsibilites

        Responsibilities vary depending on the position. Volunteers should have a discipleship/shepherding mindset to see children grow in their faith with the Lord.

        Time Commitment

        Time commitments per event or week vary depending on the position. Volunteers are asked to commit to a particular ministry for one year. Pressure free trial periods, called "test flights" are encouraged for all prospective volunteers.  

         

        Launch Kids: Kids Praise and Living Inside Out
        Description

        Use your encouraging attitude to help children grow closer to the Lord in our two Sunday morning classes for kids. Small Group Leaders lead easy life-application discussions with 4-8 kids.

        Responsibilites

        Volunteers go to either Kids Praise or Living Inside Out for an hour every Sunday morning. They help with props, lead small groups, run sound and light systems, act in skits, build props, learn how to do whatever is needed and love kids. 

        Time Commitment

        About an hour a week.

        Launch Kids: Flight56
        Description

        Help preteens hold onto to faith as they transform from children to teens during those tween years in the Flight 56 Ministry. Flight 56 volunteers bring passion, energy, and fun to their work with preteens to help them come to know Jesus as Savior and as Lord in their daily lives.

        Responsibilites

        Greet and welcome the 56'ers as they arrive. Interact with about their week, school, home and lives. Assist and support whoever is teaching the lesson. Help clean up and maintain a safe environment within "The Hanger"

        Opportunities:
        Teacher Assistants help teachers with the lesson.
        Tech Crew Members work with computer and sound equipment in support of a lesson during the services.

        Overnighter and Winter Retreat:
        Flight 56 has a Fall Overnighter at the church as well as a weekend Winter Retreat in February. Responsibilities during the Overnighter and Retreat are similar to those on a Sunday or Wednesday.

        Time Commitment

        Time commitments vary between 1.5 to 3 hours a week.  Flight 56 meets during the Sunday 9:47 and 11:11 hours as well as on Wednesday evenings starting at 6:30 from September to May.

         

        Nursery Care
        Description

        The Nursery Care Ministry is a great place for anyone to enter ministry service. You won't only be caring for children, you will be caring for the spiritual well-being of entire families by holding a baby or playing with a toddler while parents learn and worship. 

        Responsibilites

        Arrive ten to fifteen minutes before service begins to help get put sheets and blankets on cribs, turn on music, and organize check-in materials. Welcome babies/toddlers. Be sure diaper bags and other belongings are marked with child's name. Be involved with the care of the babies/toddlers by rocking them, talking to them, and playing with them. Check for diaper change needs and be aware of signs of hunger or discomfort. Try to change each baby at least once, record the time of changing, and report this to parents. When babies and toddlers leave, remove sheets and blankets and help with general cleanup of equipment and toys. Attend training meetings that are offered. Get to know parents, and pray for them and for their children.

        Time Commitment

        One or two hours per month

        Baptism
        Description

        Help believers take an important next step in following Jesus and publicly acknowledge their faith in Christ.  

        Responsibilites

        Setup baptism the day before, filling the baptismal pool with warm water and arrange tarps as necessary. Help baptismal candidates in and out of the baptismal. Assist with clean up. 

        Time Commitment

        Two to six hour a year.

         

        Benevolence
        Description

        Help advise people in financial distress and explore ways to bring relief and answers. The Benevolence volunteers provide financial counseling to people with financial needs as well as discern practical ways the Calvary can help them in their with their immediate circumstances and with future decisions.  

        Responsibilites

        Meet with the people in need. Determine what the church can do to help. Meet with the deacons via email and discuss the situation.

        Time Commitment

        The time varies from 1 to 3 hours a week. 

        Car Care
        Description

        Use your knowledge of basic car maintenance and the gift of hospitality to help those in financial need to maintain their vehicles. The Calvary Car Care ministry offers a car "inspection" (not state inspection) and basic maintenance and repair several times a year by appointment for both attenders of the church as well as friends and community members. This is a practical way to make a difference with the love of Christ in someone else's life. Make an appointment

        Responsibilites

        Volunteers should have some experience in car maintenance with a knowledge of oil changes, fluid inspection, tire pressure, lights, etc.  

        Time Commitment

        One Saturday morning every few months.

         

        Calvary Care
        Description

        Calvary Care is a dynamic, multi-faceted ministry that encompasses everything from visitation to handyman work for the community both inside and outside the church. If you have a desire to care for the sick, help people with practical needs or repairs, provide transportation, or even help use your nursing skills to help with blood pressure checks and basic healthcare support, you might be a great fit for one of our Calvary Care teams.

        Responsibilities

        Responsibilities vary depending on your area of interest and the need.  

        Time Commitment

        1 to 5 hours a month.

        Counters
        Description

        Use your math skills to help the Counters Ministry. Counters work in teams of four to process all cash and checks that come through the offering. Volunteers should be good at basic math. 

        Responsibilites

        Handle cash and check offerings to the church. Oversee record keeping of all donations. Work with a team to prepare donations for bank deposit.

        Time Commitment

        One hour a month. Each person should commit at least one year to this ministry.

         

        Data Entry
        Description

        Use your gifts of administration or helps to serve in very practical ways. Data entry is needed from time to time by several ministry departments included Kids Ministry and Adult Ministries as well as the general office staff. 

        Responsibilites

        You will be given various computer work that can sometimes be done at home. Some may require you to be in the office. You will be responsible for accurate data input and reporting to respective ministry heads as needed. Computer knowledge and the ability to type are required.

        Time Commitment

        Time commitments are variable and flexible. 

        Deacons
        Description

        Use your heart for people and leadership skills to manage people needs and match them with appropriate ministries. 

        Responsibilites

        Meet with a team of people to discuss the practical and spiritual needs of our people.

        Time Commitment

        1-3 hours a month.

         

        Eternal Perks Café
        Description

        Use your desire to make a welcome place for hospitality through serving in the Eternal Perks Café on Sunday mornings. You will be responsible for preparing coffee and making sure the cafe is tidy. (Positions are also available for clean-up duty after the 11:11 service, which entails rinsing air pots, wiping counters and tidying up.)

        Responsibilites

        Make coffee. Fill dairy containers out on the cafe bar. Heat water for tea. Load coffee pots into the racks on the cafe bar.

        Time Commitment

        Approximately 45 minutes a month.

        Guest Services Ministry
        Description

        Use your hospitality skills and outgoing personality to welcome visitors to the church. Volunteers collect information from newcomers, assist with children's check in and escort them to designated areas. Their goal is to make Calvary a warm, welcoming, and inviting environment for visitors.  

        Responsibilites

        Check-in at the Guest Services Desk 20 minutes before the start of the worship service. Be familiar with the entire building. Know the location of the nursery, children and youth rooms, the restrooms, Eternal Perks Café and other areas of interest to our guests. Seek to identify first-time guests and direct them to the Guest Services Desk. Be prepared to personally escort any guest who asks where something is located.
        Open the doors and warmly welcome everyone entering the building.Collect the names and emails of first-time guests.

        Time Commitment

        30 minutes minutes a month. 

         

        Flower Beds/Grounds Keeping
        Description

        Use your green thumb to keep the outside of the church looking beautiful. The grounds keeping ministry helps maintain the landscape on a routine basis. Volunteers should have some knowledge or an willingness to learn gardening and a passion to see the outside of the church look its best, especially on Sundays.

        Responsibilites

        Trim bushes and plants. Cultivate the flowerbeds. Deadhead flowers.Weed and water the flowerbeds.

        Time Commitment

        Varies on the season and what needs attention on the church grounds.

        Health Ministry
        Description

        Use your passion for health and your gift of mercy or encouragement to help people with medical needs in the Health Ministry. 

        Responsibilites

        Volunteers take blood pressure once a month, help with seminars on health issues, accompany people to their doctor appointments to help with transportation and understanding treatment options. Volunteers often refer the care receivers to clinics for their needs. 

        Time Commitment

        Approximately 1 hour a month. Every second Sunday of the month volunteers offer blood pressure screenings after the first and second services. 

         

        Junior High/ Senior High Student Ministries
        Description

        Walk beside students during their transitional years in a variety of small ways that make a big difference through service, helping, welcoming and discipleship. 

        Responsibilites

        Kitchen Crew: The Kitchen Crew is for adults who enjoy food prep, a snack bar atmosphere, and fellowship with other parents of youth.
        Greeter Crew: The greeter crew is for adults who are good with names, can make people feel welcome, give tours to teens that visit, and follow up with those visitors later.
        Complex Crew: The Complex Crew is for adults who are not intimidated by teens and who understand the importance of an orderly environment to help foster community and growth.
        Event Crew: The Event Crew is for adults who are interested in helping with the ministry, but can't make a long-term time commitment. They will be called upon during special youth ministry events a few times a year.
        Small Group Crew: The Small Group Crew leader is for adults who are passionate about discipleship and can commit to investing in a teenager's personal life.

        Time Commitment

        Varies from 2 to 7 hours a month depending on the crew.

        Kitchen Ministry
        Description

        People who are willing to cook, prepare, and work in the kitchen for special events at the church.

        Responsibilites

        Cooking skills are not necessary, but welcome. Volunteers help the chef serve for events at the church. Serving includes: cutting, chopping, or a small duty in the kitchen.

        Time Commitment

        Three to 4 hours per event. 

         

        Special Event Hospitality
        Description

        Use your hospitality skills and kind heart to minister to others in on special occasions and in times of need. The Special Events Hospitality ministry provides meals at receptions following funeral services as well as serves food during the membership seminars, and other special events. 

        Responsibilites

        Responsibilities may include cooking and baking or coordinating meal preparation as well as hospitality set up in the church facilities. Volunteers are called on an "as needed" basis. Others may wish to be assigned to semi regular events that provide some advance notice.

        Time Commitment

        Varies depending on volunteer availability.  

        Small Group Host
        Description

        Use your home as a place for discipleship and shepherding for a small group—you don't need to be a teacher or a facilitator. Make coffee and provide a comfortable, inviting environment for fellowship and spiritual discussion led by a small group that needs a host home. Ideally you will be able to fit 12 to 18 people comfortably in your living room.

        Responsibilites

        Provide a space for learning and host a fellowship gathering after. Organize a snack/dessert list among group members who will share in the food provision for weekly gatherings.

        Time Commitment

        One day/evening weekly per calendar semester.

         

        Sports Ministry
        Description

        A Sports Ministry team member is someone who does not view sports as only a form of exercise or competition; but they also see sports as a unique opportunity and vehicle to spread the gospel/evangelize, promote fellowship within the church body, and ultimately glorify God.

        Responsibilites

        Reserves venues, corresponds with coaches and/or players. Works within Communications Department for advertising needs. Runs pick-up style sports events. Oversees specific sport sign-ups. Plans sports outreach events. Secures equipment, uniforms, etc., for the various sports teams.

        Time Commitment

        Varies depending on season. Typically, most time is spent meeting the month prior to the beginning of a new season. While volunteers are encouraged to help out year round, someone helping with sports ministry will oftentimes limit their involvement to the sport that is of the most interest to them. 

        Stewards
        Description

        Use your leadership and eye for hospitality to help make Calvary a welcoming, warm, and functional place for attenders and for the surrounding community. The Stewards oversee the ministries that provide for the maintenance and grounds needs for the church building and property.

        Responsibilites

        Meet with a team to discuss church needs, expenses, purchases and maintenance issues. 

        Time Commitment

        1-2 hours a month.

         

        Transportation
        Description

        Use your compassion for those in need and driving skills to help your brothers and sisters in Christ get to an emergency appointment. The transportation ministry provides emergency transportation to a doctor's appointment or medical test for members of the church.

        Responsibilites

        Volunteers usually drive their own cars.
        Sometimes the person in need has a car and just needs a driver.

        Time Commitment

        Volunteers are on call, but not obligated to help every time.

        Ushering Ministry
        Description

        Use your people and hospitality skills to greet and seat visitors at the worship services on Sundays through the ushering ministry. The ushering ministry welcomes people to the worship service, keeps seating organized, and collects the offering for the week.

        Responsibilites

        Check-in at the Usher Team Check-In 15 minutes before the start of the worship service you are scheduled to serve. The Head Usher will cast vision, confirm responsibilities, and pray with the team. Make sure that the area you are assigned is clean and the chairs are properly aligned. Greet guests as they enter the worship area. Assist guests with finding a seat if needed once the service has started. Following the prayer, proceed to your aisle and begin passing the offering baskets. Engage first-time guests in conversation, encourage them to stop by the Guest Services Desk to turn in their Communication Card and choose a gift. Invite them back next week.

        Time Commitment

        20 to 30 minutes a week. Services are assigned through rotating shifts every week.

         

        Youth Kitchen Ministry
        Description

        The Youth Kitchen ministry helps the youth ministry by serving snacks and drinks to the junior and senior high youth during their free time period.

        Responsibilites

        Preparing the various snacks and drinks. Sale of items to the youth. Making change. Restocking the refrigerator. Preparing list of items to purchase. Purchase of items to be sold. Interacting with youth in a positive and supporting manner. Cleaning of kitchen and dirty dishes.Helping youth director prepare for any special events.

        Time Commitment

        Wednesday evenings from 6:30-9PM.
